Who We Are
Celebrating a Legacy of Academic Excellence. The IASP Department of Student Programs is the proud home of Indiana’s “Academic Competitions.” Our history began over 40 years ago with a revolutionary goal: to move academic competition away from the pressure of a single individual and toward the power of a team.
Today, we continue that tradition by providing high-quality, rigorous platforms where classroom knowledge meets competitive pride. We are the stewards of a tradition that treats the M.A.T.H. Bowl and the Spell Bowl with the same prestige as any Friday night sporting event.

In 1985, Indiana’s educational leaders set out to create contests that would honor the knowledge and skills students develop with the same competitive pride found on the court or field. We believe that when students are challenged to think critically, collaborate with a team, and compete under pressure, they develop the confidence and leadership skills necessary to shape Indiana’s future.
How We Support Our Students & Coaches
Taking the Complexity Out of Competition.
We support Indiana’s schools by removing the logistical hurdles, allowing students to focus on learning and coaches to focus on mentoring. We provide:
- Standardized Frameworks: Clear rules, rubrics, and high-quality materials developed by educators to ensure fair and rigorous play.
- Dedicated Coordination: Direct support and continual communication to keep coaches informed and on track throughout the season.
- Tangible Recognition: Trophies, medals, and scholarships that provide lasting pride for schools and families.

The Student Programs Master Enrollment Form: To unlock access to IASP competitions and resources, your school building must be a member of the Department of Student Programs. We use a single, unified form to handle both building membership and individual contest registration.
